What's your name & where are you from?
Neal Sugarman, from NYC.

What are you doing?
Co-Owner of Daptone Records and Sax Player (member of the Dap-Kings).

Who influenced you musically?
From when I first started playing and listening I always loved Jazz, Funk & Soul Records. From the early James Brown Records like "Please Please Please" to Soul Jazz sounds of Stanley Turrentine.

What was your first record?
When I was young, I was always listing to my dads Jazz Records, which are still live in my collection. It might be a Charlie Parker compilation of his early Bebop recordings.

What are your favorite records at the moment?
I just got a 45 that I was looking for for some time.
It is a group from Chicago called Pat & Pam," I Love You Yes I Do” on Our Own Records.
Some other recent acquisitions are The Festivals “You Got The Makings Of A lover” on Smash Records.
I am really digging this Little Richard 45 called “The Commandments Of Love” on O-Key Records and Billy Leonard "Tears Of Love” on Fairmont Records.

What's your best digging story?
Nothing so special other then being on the road with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and getting a chance to visit all kinds of record stores from New Orleans (Louisiana) to Hamburg (Germany) and giving while on the road was always big part of what the band did together.

What's your favorite format? LP, 12", 7”?
