Talentscouts, überall um den Globus verteilt, helfen Gastgeber Herr
Wempe immer wieder sein Koryphäenkollektiv der Soul- und Funkszene zu
erweitern. So ist in der April-Ausgabe mit DJ Rocdaspot nach Skeme
Richards bereits der zweite Plattenleger aus Philadelphia bei Soul
Gallen zu Gast. Der Digger aus der «City of Brotherly Love» kommt zum
ersten Mal nach Europa und in die Schweiz, im Gepäck seine Perlen und
Raritäten des Rare Groove, die er im endlosen Stöbern durch Phillys
unbekannte Plattenläden angesammelt hat. Wie immer dreht auch dieses Mal
ausschliesslich schwarzes Gold auf den Plattentellern – get dressed and
put on your dancin' shoes.

What's your name & where are you from?
My birth name is Desmond aka Rocdaspot & I am from Philadelphia, Pa (US)
What are you doing?
I am in pursuit of playing music from all of the world, all over the world.
Who influenced you musically?
Every music lover I’ve ever met, simply because they introduced me something new I may have never heard before. All the way from family members, other DJs, and even record store owners.
What was your first record?
The Fat Boys album
What are your favorite records at the moment?
The Brazilian Boogie Connection Comp.,
La Pelea-Es Peleando,
Moonchild-Voyager.
What's your best digging story?
While diggin in New York with my friends, I came across the Claudia- Reza, tambor e raça (Brazilian album) that I have been dreaming about for at least 2 years.
What's your favorite format? LP, 12", 7"?
I guess it would be 7” because you have the ability to travel with more & it cuts out the hassle of finding it on an LP, but I love them all.

The energy was electric and perfect.

When Robert Glasper performed the entire Stevie Wonder’s ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ album.
Where & with who would your dream gig be?
South Africa with Black Coffee
What's your favorite food & drink?
Indian food & water with a high Ph balance.
Any words of advice?
When you think IT & believe IT, IT will happen.
